Move over gray tones. Brown is back!

Some interior design color trends come and go. (Bye-bye, millennial pink furniture!) However, some colors have a timeless appeal. Earth tones have long appeared in luxury interiors, even during periods when their popularity declined. Recently, though, we have observed a resurgence in their use.

For about a decade or so, brown and other earth tones have been overshadowed by cooler tones, like gray and white. However, they are being embraced again for their warmth, versatility, and grounding effect.

Why Brown?

Earth tones cloak a space and draw you in. Brown evokes a sense of comfort and connection to nature. As people seek to create serene and cozy retreats in their homes, the earthy tones of brown deliver on every level. From deep chocolate to soft taupe, this color range adds richness and depth to interiors without overpowering a space. It's Mother Nature brought indoors.

Where to Incorporate Brown or Earth Tones

  1. Furniture: Leather sofas and wooden furniture are timeless ways to bring brown into a room. These materials not only look sophisticated but also age beautifully and are versatile.

  2. Walls and Floors: For a bold statement, consider brown for walls. A rich terracotta or mocha paint color can create a cocoon-like effect, making it ideal for bedrooms and studies. Pair brown walls with natural wood floors or a patterned rug with brown undertones for a cohesive and coordinated look.

  3. Accessories: If you're hesitant about committing to large doses of brown, opt for accent pieces like throw pillows, drapery, blankets, or artwork. These elements introduce the hue without dominating the design.

Pairing Brown with Other Colors

Brown works beautifully with a variety of palettes. Pair it with creamy whites and beige for a classic look, or combine it with jewel tones like emerald green or sapphire blue for a luxurious touch.

As homeowners lean toward designs that reflect comfort and sustainability, brown is the perfect color to anchor a space in natural elegance. It's a nod to timeless beauty while keeping homes warm and inviting.

Brown is officially back, and we are happy to embrace it!
